HOOKSETT, N.H. - The Saint Michael's College men's ice hockey team lost to Southern New Hampshire University, 2-1, during Northeast-10 Conference play on Friday evening at the Ice Den Arena.

GAME FACTS
  • With five regular-season games remaining, Saint Michael's is now third in the NE10 standings with 26 points, one behind the Penmen, who leapfrogged the Purple Knights to take over second place on Friday. The top two teams in the final standings earn first-round byes into home semifinals.
THE ACTION
  • Plunkett made a pair of stops early in the second period to kill off a penalty assessed at 19 seconds for the only man advantage in the opening pair of stanzas.
  • On the other side of the ice, Berke had 28 saves in the first 40 minutes, and the teams were scoreless entering an eventful third period.
  • Only 49 seconds into the final frame, McFarland tapped home a rebound of Kantgias' initial shot from the right point.
  • Just 19 ticks later, Devlin knocked in a loose puck after Plunkett had denied senior Ryan Houle's shot from the blue line.
  • Aldrich struck for the go-ahead goal at 14:18, roofing a shot from the right circle.
  • While seeking the equalizer, the Purple Knights pulled Plunkett with 1:52 remaining and possessed for the majority of that time, winning all three faceoffs and sending three shots toward net, but all were off target.
