THE ACTION
  • In the late stages of a scoreless opening period, sophomore Ben Baxter (Hyannis, Mass./Seahawks Hockey Club) batted a puck out of the air in neutral ice to gain possession before zooming into the right circle and taking a shot Carroll saved with 16:38 gone.
  • Only 18 seconds later, junior Nick Wracker (Columbia, S.C./Northeast Generals) crashed the net to redirect Baxter's pass from behind the net into the netminder.
  • Sixteen seconds into the second period, Myers put home a rebound of a shot by Linart that Plunkett had pushed away.
  • The Purple Knights drew even at 2:11, as Dukes' pass up the boards awkwardly redirected off of the glass to Bloom, who went 1-on-1 with a defender before finishing his shorthanded bid to Carroll's blocker side.
  • At 7:46, Brackett had a bid denied by Plunkett's blocker, with the rebound bouncing toward a vacated left side of the net before first-year defender Cole Douglas (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shady Side Academy) swept the puck out of danger.
  • Near the end of a five-minute power play in the third period, Ciancio's slap shot from the blue line was snared by Carroll's glove save at 8:43, keeping the teams tied.
  • Saint Anselm scored three times in a late 4:16 stretch to snap the deadlock and pull away. Brackett netted the game-winner at 15:16, toe dragging in the slot before finishing a power-play strike.
  • At 17:29, DeMarinis batted a rebound out of the air near the right post to make it 3-1 before Burum tallied a shorthanded goal on an empty net with exactly one minute remaining.
