NEW HAVEN, Conn. - In its third consecutive contest against a regionally-ranked foe, the regionally-ranked Saint Michael's College men's soccer team played Southern Connecticut State University to a scoreless draw on Saturday during Northeast 10 Conference play at Jess Dow Field. The Purple Knights were ninth in this week's United Soccer Coaches East Region poll, while the Owls sat seventh.

• Smith smothered graduate student Edward Mensah's header off of a free kick service in the 42nd minute to keep the game level heading into halftime.
• Sophomore Kasper Murzinski drilled the crossbar in the 83rd minute before junior Marshall Butler (Middletown, Conn./Middletown) missed just wide of the left post from 30 yards in the 88th minute.
• During a corner sequence in the waning seconds of the game, an initial shot went wayward before first-year back Liam Weldon (Essex, Vt./Shattuck-Saint Mary's School) headed away sophomore Kazuki Amegavie's last-second bid before it reached Smith.
