GAME FACTS

• Saint Michael's saw an eight-game unbeaten streak (7-0-1) dating back to last season, its longest since a nine-game winning streak in January-February 1998, come to an end. The Purple and Gold had won six straight against NE10 foes.
• Both teams won 32 faceoffs, while the Greyhounds had a 44-33 lead in shots.

THE ACTION

• Surrette's backhanded tally from the left circle at 9:38 of the opening period was the lone scoring in the frame before the teams combined for four goals in an 8:03 stretch late in the second.
• Sophomore Shane McElhaney knocked in a loose puck with 10:16 gone in the second on a power play before first-year Brett Cunningham went to Manahan's glove side from the left circle 3:50 later, giving the Greyhounds a 3-0 lead.
• Walsh finished from the slot only 1:23 after that, at 15:29, and Tuite netted a wrister from out front at 18:19 to draw his team within a goal.
• Demio reestablished his team's two-goal lead 7:13 into the third before Surrette iced the win by scoring on an open net with 1:20 to go from deep in the far Assumption corner.
