LAKEWOOD, N.J. - The Saint Michael's College men's basketball team lost to Georgian Court University, 74-70, on Saturday during the Tournament of Heroes in the Georgian Court Wellness Center.

THE ACTION
  • The Purple Knights used an 8-0 run to open a 28-17 lead by 5:31 of the first half, with senior Nolan Marold (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Brewster Academy/Loyola Chicago) scoring five points.
  • The visitors were still ahead by 10 with 1:33 to go before Edmonds' four-point play sparked a 7-0 surge, but junior Latiek Briscoe Jr.'s (Brooklyn, N.Y./Saint Francis Prep/Saint Edward's) put-back just before the halftime buzzer had Saint Michael's ahead 37-32.
  • Littleton's three-pointer 21 seconds into the second stanza pushed the lead back to eight before the Golden Lions responded with a 19-5 run, leading 51-45 on Edmonds' lay-in at 15:36.
  • Saint Michael's tied the game on three occasions down the stretch but never went ahead, with Georgian Court going in front for good on Santucci's lay-up at 6:04.
  • Byrd's put-back had Saint Michael's within 72-70 at 15 seconds, but junior Amar Lane converted a pair of free throws two seconds later. The visitors turned the ball over on their next possession.
