Men's Ice Hockey Loses 3-0 NE10 Decision at Post

SHELTON, Conn. - The Saint Michael's College men's ice hockey team lost to Post University, 3-0, on Saturday during a Northeast 10 Conference contest at the Sports Center of Connecticut.

THE ACTION
  • Post accounted for the only first-period scoring, as Reager slipped a shot over Plunkett's left shoulder from the right circle during a power play with 8:34 gone.
  • Plunkett turned away all 11 shots sent his way during the second period to keep the score 1-0.
  • Beckett doubled the lead 3:18 into the third frame on a power play, taking Reager's drop pass in the right circle before going to the netminder's glove side.
  • Plunkett vacated the next for an extra attacker with 2:45 left, and Cunneen maintained the lead by stopping shots from junior Hans Forselius (Guilford, Conn./Seahawks Hockey Club) and sophomore Roman Winicki (Setauket, N.Y./Philadelphia Hockey Club) at 17:40 and 17:54, respectively.
  • After a Purple Knight shot whipped around the boards soon thereafter, Kimball hustled to the loose puck and scored on an empty net from just inside the visitors' blue line at 18:36.

  • Tuesday at Amherst College, 3 p.m.
  • The contest will be a homecoming for first-year head coach Jack Fitzgerald, an Amherst alumnus and four-year member of the Mammoths' coaching staff.
