Men's Basketball Loses at 2nd-Ranked Daemen, 73-61

AMHERST, N.Y. - The Saint Michael's College men's basketball team yielded a late tie-breaking 11-2 run during a 73-61 loss at No. 2 Daemen University on Saturday in Lumsden Gymnasium. The undefeated Wildcats' national ranking was according to this week's National Association of Basketball Coaches' (NABC) poll.

THE ACTION
  • Glover's second three-pointer in 28 seconds gave Daemen an 11-3 lead at 16:01 of the first half.
  • The Purple Knights scored the next seven points before the Wildcats countered with an 11-3 run en route to twice leading by as many as 11 points in the opening stanza.
  • Saint Michael's capped a go-ahead 13-0 run that bridged halftime on Littleton's jumper at 17:07 of the second half (35-33), and the visitors led by as much as 49-45 on Kenney's three-point play with 10:19 to go.
  • Philipkoski buried consecutive threes 42 seconds apart to put Daemen back in front, but Marold's lay-in at 7:47 forced the final tie (53-53).
  • The Wildcats came out of a media timeout with an 11-2 run, as Glover scored five points and Nwugwo four, and the visitors never rallied within fewer than five points down the stretch. Daemen shot 9-for-12 from the charity stripe in the final 1:39.
