SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College women's ice hockey team opened a New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) weekend series with a 6-0 loss to Stonehill College on Friday evening in Cairns Arena.

THE ACTION

• Stonehill scored a pair of power-play goals in the first period, with Feeney netting the opening strike at 8:47 during a two-woman advantage, skating zone to zone before chipping a shot over Dans' right shoulder from below the left circle.
• With 9:51 gone, Dans made the second of consecutive saves by kicking away junior Peyton Wise's bid with her pad. Dans and Quinn then combined to deny a Skyhawk chance a little more than a minute later, with the netminder stopping back-to-back shots before Quinn blocked an attempt on an open net.
• Achtyl made it 2-0 at 18:08 on a power play, tipping in Feeney's backhanded pass toward the net.
• Senior Mia Kenmore added to the lead 1:25 into the second period, sweeping in a loose puck out front under pressure, and Dans added a toe save at 2:41 of senior Lucie Turcotte.
• Achtyl tapped in senior Gracie Sacca's cross-crease pass at 8:02 and Slocum snuck a redirection through Dans at 14:08.
• Senior Lilly Hartnell (Tampa, Fla./Saint Anselm College) wristed a shot off of Caron's pad from the right circle at 15:14.
• Slocum scored from the left circle at 4:22 of the third period, during which Dans made 17 saves.
