Men's Tennis Blanks Saint Lawrence in Second-Semester Opener

COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College men's tennis team opened the second semester with a 7-0 victory over Saint Lawrence University on Thursday in the Tarrant Recreation Center, its third straight win.

THE ACTION
  • Saint Michael's swept doubles to capture the opening point before picking up six straight-set singles wins.
  • After Brooker and Moser started play with a 6-0 win at No. 2 during their first contest together since going 9-5 last school year, Hegedus-Kyster and van den Broek claimed a clinching 6-4 victory in the third spot.
  • Barroso and Du Plessis remained undefeated this season at 4-0 with a 7-5 win at No. 1.
  • Du Plessis (6-1, 6-1), van den Broek (6-0, 6-1) and Barroso (6-0, 6-0) quickly clinched their team the win with straight-set singles wins at No. 1, 3 and 2, respectively. Van den Broek improved to a team-best 6-2.
  • Effler won 6-1, 6-1 in the fourth spot, Macpherson improved to 3-0 this school year by claiming a 6-0, 6-4 win in his debut at No. 5, and Lundholm won a 6-3, 6-3 decision in the sixth spot.
