SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - The Saint Michael's College men's tennis team lost to Skidmore College, 6-1, on Sunday in the McCaffery-Wagman Tennis and Wellness Center. The contest counted as a scrimmage for the Thoroughbreds but was a regular-season match for the Purple Knights.

THE ACTION

• The Purple Knights were swept in doubles, but only after their tandems at No. 2 and 3 lost 6-3 decisions. Senior Jackson Moser (Missouri City, Texas/Ridge Point) and sophomore Garrett Brooker (Charleston, S.C./Oceanside Collegiate Academy) sided in the former, while Macpherson and first-year Brayden Effler (San Antonio, Texas/Alamo Heights) partnered in the latter.
• Macpherson won a 6-7 (9-11), 6-3, 6-1 comeback decision at No. 5 singles, improving to 4-0 this year.
• Graduate student Tristian Du Plessis (Rustenburg, South Africa/Hoërskool Waterkloof/Wallace State CC) lost 7-6 (7-3), 2-6, 6-2 in the top spot, and Brooker was downed by a 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 count at No. 4.
• Effler lost in a first-set tiebreaker during a 7-6 (7-1), 6-3 defeat in the third position.
