THE ACTION
  • Colby swept doubles, but only after securing a pair of close decisions. Van den broek and first-year Brayden Effler (San Antonio, Texas/Alamo Heights) lost a 6-3 contest in the third spot during their first match together before graduate student Tristian Du Plessis (Rustenburg, South Africa/Hoërskool Waterkloof/Wallace State CC) and senior Sergio Barroso (Madrid, Spain/Colegio Montpellier) were knocked off, 6-4, at No. 1 for their first loss in five outings this year, allowing the Mules to lead 1-0.
  • In the second spot, Brooker and senior Jackson Moser (Missouri City, Texas/Ridge Point) combined for a 7-6 (8-6) setback.
  • Colby went ahead 3-0 thanks to a pair of singles wins, including as Du Plessis lost to the 22nd-ranked player in Division III at No. 1, but van den Broek got his team on the board with a 6-2, 6-0 victory in the third slot. He improved to 7-3 with the triumph.
