COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College men's basketball junior
Nolan Marold (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Brewster Academy/Loyola Chicago) earned a College Sports Communicators (CSC) NCAA Division II Academic All-District accolade on Tuesday, landing the recognition for the second straight year. He was among eight Northeast-10 Conference student-athletes honored.
Â
Marold, who has a 3.91 cumulative grade-point average as a business administration major, was fourth in the NE10 in blocks (1.1), fifth in offensive rebounding (2.5) and tied for 10th in rebounding (6.1). Marold averaged 7.7 points on 53.3% field goal shooting with a 79.2% effort on free throws. A 2023-24 NCAA Division II East Regional Championship All-Tournament Team pick, Marold earned his second straight CSC Academic All-District nod and qualified for a 2023-24 Division 2 Athletics Directors Association (D2 ADA) Academic Achievement Award. He has been named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll all three semesters at Saint Michael's after earning a spot on the Atlantic 10 Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll as a first-year at Loyola University Chicago.
Â
College Sports Communicators recognizes major contributors toting at least a 3.50 GPA by their sophomore seasons. Each school was able to put a maximum number of student-athletes forward for an award that previously necessitated voting. Instead, All-District honorees can now advance directly to the Academic All-America ballot, which still incorporates national membership voting. Through the Academic All-America program, CSC names Academic All-District and Academic All-America teams at each the NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III levels, while the College Division team combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.
