KUTZTOWN, Pa. - The Saint Michael's College baseball team split a pair of seven-inning contests with Kutztown University on Saturday, taking the nightcap, 15-12, after losing the opener, 9-4, at North Campus Baseball Field.

THE ACTION
- The Purple Knights used a bases-loaded walk by Kolifrath and sac flies from sophomore Richard Gilboy (South Portland, Maine/South Portland) and Kinsella to plate three first-inning runs, and Pattison added a sac fly to make it 4-0 in the second inning.
- Barthol came through with a two-run single to key a three-run home half, and Furst tied the game with a two-out solo home run in the third.
- Barthol's RBI single in the fourth put the Golden Bears ahead for good, and redshirt first-year Bryce Schafer's two-run double in the sixth sparked a three-run inning.

THE ACTION
- Kolifrath and Gilboy drove home runs in the top of the first inning, but Varda's two-run homer kicked off a four-run home half.
- Saint Michael's countered with six runs on six hits in the second to take an 8-4 lead. Pattison's two-run single was the big blow, while four teammates added single RBI hits.
- After the Golden Bears got two back in the second, the Purple Knights used a Cavossa RBI double and Gilboy and Kinsella RBI singles to make it 11-6 in the third.
- Kutztown came all the way back with five two-out unearned runs in the fourth, tying the game on Barthol's RBI single.
- Gilboy and Kinsella lofted consecutive sac flies the following inning before Arsenault's two-out, two-run home run pushed the lead to 15-11.
- Out of the bullpen, Gunnip allowed only one hit to his first 12 batters before Kutztown loaded the bases with one out in the seventh. However, a fielder's choice and outfield fly ended the game.
