Jerry Guzman (Valley Cottage, N.Y./Brunswick School) hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth inning to help the Saint Michael's College baseball team win game two of a doubleheader, 7-6, against regionally-ranked Pace University during Northeast-10 Conference play on Sunday at Doc Jacobs Field. Pace won the first game of the doubleheader, 4-1. The Setters were ranked ninth in this week's National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) East Region poll.

THE ACTION
- Neither team scored until Baronian hit a two-run double down the left field line in the top of the fourth inning.
- Sweppenhiser drove in one run in the top of the seventh on a fielder's choice and Rodriguez launched a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Setters up 4-0.
- Smith launched a double in the bottom of the ninth to right field to bring home junior Seth Larson (Leicester, Mass./Leicester), putting runners at second and third with one out. Santaella entered in relief to retire consecutive hitters representing the tying run to thwart the rally.

THE ACTION
- Kinsella hit a single down the left field line to drive in two runs in the bottom of the first inning and give the Purple Knights a 2-0 lead. The Purple and Gold added three more runs in the bottom of the first when Guzman scored on a throwing error and Jalbert doubled down the right field line to drive in sophomores Richard Gilboy (South Portland, Maine/South Portland) and Tad Giardina (Reading, Mass./Saint Mary's).
- Balian homered to right center field in the bottom of the second inning to give the Purple Knights a 6-0 lead.
- The Setters added two unearned runs in the top of the third inning to make it 6-2.
- Labita hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth inning to drive in Sweppenhiser before Heppner singled up the middle, knocking in two more runs to make it 6-5.
- Rodriguez scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at six in the top of the sixth inning.
- On the first pitch, Guzman laced a bases-loaded single to left field in the bottom of the ninth inning to score Jalbert and win it for the Purple Knights.
