Baseball Falls Twice at Franklin Pierce in NE10 Action

RINDGE, N.H. - The Saint Michael's College baseball team lost both ends of a Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader at Franklin Pierce University, 13-2 and 14-8, on Wednesday at Pappas Field. The Ravens received votes toward this week's National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) East Region poll.

DOUBLEHEADER FACTS
  • Senior Max Kolifrath (Millbury, Mass./Millbury) homered in each end of the doubleheader and now has 13 for his career, within three of Trevor Allen's '19 program record (16).
  • Senior Terence Moynihan (Stoneham, Mass./Saint Mary's) passed George Buteau '15 (125) to take over sixth in program history with 126 career hits.

  • Kinsella scored on a first-inning double play to give the Purple Knights a 1-0 lead.

THE ACTION
  • The teams exchanged big innings early, as Lugo's three-run homer highlighted a five-run first frame for the hosts before Moynihan followed suit with a three-run dinger in a four-run second inning.
  • Acker stole third and scored on an error in the fourth before Marcano's two-out RBI single extended the lead to 7-4.
  • Kolifrath led off the following frame with a home run.
  • The Ravens scored six runs on five hits in the seventh, as Lugo went deep and four teammates drove in runs.
  • Gilboy unloaded the bases with a two-out, three-run double in the eighth, but senior Elias Meredith's infield RBI single pushed the hosts' lead to 14-8 in the bottom half.
