Devens Lands Second All-East Region Accolade of Senior Season

COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College softball senior Jenna Devens (Parsippany, N.J./Parsippany) was named to the Division II Collegiate Commissioners Association (D2 CCA) All-East Region first team on Monday, adding to an impressive postseason awards haul. Devens also earned a spot on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-East Region first team, finishing as one of four Northeast-10 Conference student-athletes to claim a position on both the D2 CCA and NFCA All-East Region first teams.

Also the NE10 Player of the Year and an NE10 All-Conference first team pick, Devens was among six NE10 players to land one of 28 D2 CCA All-East Region spots, as the first base representative on the first team. She joins Meggan Roberge '07 as the only Purple Knights to receive an all-region accolade voted upon by athletic communications professionals, with Roberge earning a Daktronics All-Northeast Region first team nod in 2007.

Devens stands second in the NCAA Division II East Region in slugging percentage (.776), third in on-base percentage (.512) and fourth in batting average (.439), good for 25th, 33rd and 30th, respectively, among all Division II players. She also cracked eight home runs, putting her third in the region in dingers per game. Devens leads the NE10 in batting, slugging, OBP and home runs while driving in a school-record 33 runs, five off the pace, and scoring 25. A two-time captain, Devens had hits in 30 of 38 games and added 10 doubles and 18 walks to only six strikeouts.

Devens' batting average this spring was the highest by a Purple Knight since Kathy O'Neil '81 hit .481 in 1981. She will graduate holding career marks for hits (184), doubles (39), home runs (29), RBI (113) and walks (74), and she previously set season records for home runs (12) as a first-year and walks (28) as a junior. Devens' career batting average (.415), slugging percentage (.709) and OBP (.499) are all second in program history only to O'Neil, who played prior to the program's resurrection in 1990. Devens is 13th in NE10 history in career home runs.

Devens was named to the NE10 All-Conference third team three times, at different positions each year, while claiming all-league laurels every season. She was an NFCA All-East Region pick three times, also at three different positions, having contributing at first base, second base, designated player and pitcher at different junctures.
