Cameron Sets Season Saves Mark as Saint Michael's Field Hockey Loses to Bentley

COLCHESTER, Vt. - Senior Joelle Cameron (West Bridgewater, Mass./West Bridgewater) broke a 37-year-old Saint Michael's College field hockey school record for season saves as the Purple Knights lost to Bentley University, 10-1, on Wednesday evening during Northeast 10 Conference play on Duffy Field.

GAME FACTS
  • Cameron pushed her season save total to 201, breaking the school mark of 180 stops set by Jean Harbeck '90 in 1988. With 379 career saves, Cameron vaulted Jennifer England '93 (353) to take over fourth place in Saint Michael's annals, within 76 saves of another Harbeck record, this one set 36 years ago.
  • Ouellette posted her fifth defensive save of the season.
  • While Bentley is under .500, all four of its losses came to nationally-ranked teams before it defeated Assumption University, which qualified for the last five NCAA Tournaments.
THE ACTION
  • Krepelka and senior Gracie Moore scored 1:15 apart in the seventh and ninth minutes, respectively, before Manchester and first-year Emily Spadorcia tallied within 1:26 of another late in the opening stanza.
  • During the Purple Knights' third consecutive penalty corner bid early in the second period, Harrington picked up a rebound of her own blocked shot and slipped a shot past Lorenz at 16:19.
  • Cameron made nine saves in the second quarter before adding seven in each of the final two periods.
