Women's Ice Hockey Downed by Saint Anselm, 4-2, During NEWHA Play

MANCHESTER, N.H. - The Saint Michael's College women's ice hockey team capped its season-opening weekend series at Saint Anselm College with a 4-2 loss on Saturday during New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) play in Sullivan Arena.

THE ACTION
  • The teams exchanged goals late in the first period of a scoreless game. With 12:14 gone, Schneiderhan took the zone and moved into the slot before backhanding a shot over Dans' close shoulder.
  • Just 2:41 later, Weatherred touched home Jarvis' centering pass after Jarvis forced a takeaway at the blue line.
  • Two of the Hawks' goals during an ensuing 3-0 run came on the power play. Senior Cora Webber tallied 45 seconds into the second period on a wrister from the right circle before junior Hailey Tullo found Dans' five-hole from the left circle during a woman advantage at 4:04.
  • Schneiderhan picked the corner from the left circle during a power play 6:26 into the third to make it 4-1.
  • Late in regulation, the Purple Knights scored their second 5-on-3 marker of the weekend. After Chedel sent a shot toward the crease, Jerylo kept the loose puck alive and Boychuk finished by backhanding a shot beyond Czukoski while falling to the ice at 17:35.
