Women's Soccer Scores Three Goals Late to Down Southern Connecticut State, 4-1

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The nationally-regarded Saint Michael's College women's soccer team snapped a tie with three goals in a late 12:17 span to fell Northeast 10 Conference foe Southern Connecticut State University, 4-1, on Saturday at Jess Dow Field. The Purple Knights received votes toward this week's United Soccer Coaches national poll and were sixth in the East Region rankings.

THE ACTION
  • In the 18th minute, sophomore Delaney Kleinman's (Center Moriches, N.Y./Center Moriches) long service into the box bounced once before Gormley stuck out her right leg and fired the loose ball home. Senior Kayleigh Crowell (Beverly, Mass./Beverly) also assisted.
  • Despite being outshot 15-5 to this point, the Owls found the equalizer in the 69th minute when Bishop headed in sophomore Julia Hargraves' corner kick feed.
  • Kosiba broke through for the winner in the 74th minute, driving a shot into the upper right corner after receiving sophomore Josie Rayhill's (Kirkland, Wash./Lake Washington) short corner entry.
  • McDonough padded the lead at 85:00, one-touching Hanley's pass into the box after Hanley saved a broken play on the end line. Senior Bella DelVecchio (Saugus, Mass./Bishop Fenwick) also assisted.
  • Just 2:25 later, sophomore Scarlett Brookes' (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) bid was tipped off the crossbar by Aughe, but Hanley followed the play and knocked in the rebound.
