Women's Ice Hockey Downed in Weekend Opener at No. 11 Clarkson

POTSDAM, N.Y. - The Saint Michael's College women's ice hockey team opened a weekend series at national power No. 11 Clarkson University on Friday in Cheel Arena. The Purple Knights lost to the Golden Knights, whose ranking is according to the most recent polls from both USA Hockey and U.S. College Hockey Online (USCHO), by a 15-0 final.

THE ACTION
  • Sophomore Raedyn Spademan put Clarkson ahead 1:32 into the contest, banging home a rebound off the end boards, before sophomore Greta Brezenski made it 2-0 54 seconds later with a one-timer from the slot.
  • Shortly after a blocker save from Dans, McKay tallied at 3:38 from the point. Smellie added to the tally with 5:59 gone on an odd-woman rush.
  • The Golden Knights led 8-0 after the opening frame before adding three goals in the second period and four in the third.
