Women's Basketball Defeated in NE10 Road Affair at AIC

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Saint Michael's College women's basketball team saw its four-game winning streak end with an 81-66 loss at American International College on Wednesday during Northeast 10 Conference play in Butova Gymnasium.

THE ACTION
  • Reeves scored the game's first six points before six Purple Knights scored in a 12-5 response, as the visitors led 12-11 on Montplaisir's driving lay-in at 2:28 of the first quarter.
  • Boyle netted the next seven points, but Saint Michael's retook the lead at 33-32 on a Montplaisir free throw with 44 seconds remaining in the half. However, a giveaway with 11 ticks left allowed Reeves to make two freebies with a second on the clock, sending AIC into the locker room up by a point.
  • Saint Michael's trailed by a single point twice more in the third quarter before the Yellow Jackets used a 17-1 run to pull away, forging a 55-38 lead by 2:58. Bennett scored six of the points.
  • The Purple Knights halved their deficit twice early in the fourth quarter, drawing within nine both times when Tyler made a pair of free throws. However, AIC went up by 11 at 7:17 and continued to lead by double digits.
