Women's Basketball Knocked Off by 18th-Ranked Bentley

COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College women's basketball team lost to 18th-ranked Bentley University, 62-48, on Tuesday during Northeast 10 Conference play in the Ross Sports Center. The Falcons were tied for 18th in this week's Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) national poll, as the Purple Knights opposed the NE10's top team three days after losing to second-place Southern Connecticut State University just 59-50.

THE ACTION
  • Three players scored during a 6-0 Bentley run that snapped a 5-5 tie before Furch's lefthanded floater brought the hosts within 14-11 with 32 seconds left in the first quarter.
  • After Bentley pushed its lead back out to eight points, junior Ashlee Talbot's (Dracut, Mass./Dracut) turnaround jumper at 6:20 of the second quarter cut the deficit to 24-18. The Falcons responded with a 17-3 run that bridged halftime, leading 41-21 on Elie's lay-up at 7:55 of the third stanza.
  • Bentley led by as much as 21, at 54-33, in the final minute of the period before the Purple Knights made it 57-44 on Santos' lay-up with 5:56 to go in the final quarter, but the hosts came no closer.
