WORCESTER, Mass. - The second-place Saint Michael's College men's ice hockey team lost to first-place Assumption University, 5-1, on Friday evening in a meeting between the Northeast 10 Conference's top two teams at the Worcester Ice Center. The Greyhounds extended their unbeaten streak to nine games (8-0-1).

THE ACTION
- The Purple Knights kept the Greyhounds, who came in averaging 5.3 goals during their eight-game unbeaten streak, off the board until McElhaney scored from a tough angle below the left circle at 14:03 of the first period.
- Assumption added three special-teams goals during a 7:59 stretch in the second period. DiNapoli scored the first on a power play at 3:21 before tallying again at 5:49, netting a shorthanded strike from the slot. Russell redirected a pass out of the air out front at 11:20 for a power-play goal.
- Winicki cut into the deficit at 16:18, tapping in a loose puck in the crease following shots from Keegan and Leale.
- McGaffigan scored only 1:10 after that from along the goal line for the final goal.
