THE ACTION
  • The Purple Knights went ahead just 1:05 after the opening faceoff, as Soon backhanded a pass toward the left post, where Jerylo jammed in her second goal in three games. Sophomore Alicia McDonald (Clearwater, Fla./East Ottawa Junior Stars U22 AA) added a secondary helper, dishing a pass to Soon from behind the net.
  • Holm tied the game with 18:27 gone in the opening frame, firing a shot from the left circle beyond Lavender's glove hand.
  • Bowlby made it 2-1 5:33 into the second period with a power-play strike after taking space in the left circle and scoring from up close.
  • Aleong later blocked three shots in one shift while helping the Purple Knights kill off a pair of penalties.
  • Holm pushed the lead to 3-1 at 9:19 of the third period, roofing a shot from the left circle.
  • Only 1:25 later, FitzGibbon's shot from the left circle during a power play found its way to the net, halving the Purple Knights' deficit. Junior Isabel Goolie (Anchorage, Alaska/Gilmour Academy) and sophomore Julia Chedel (Haverhill, Mass./Kimball Union Academy) assisted.
  • The Purple Knights were assessed a penalty with 2:44 to go and successfully killed the woman deficit but thus were unable to pull Lavender until 27 seconds remained. After a timeout at 24 seconds, Sacred Heart won the ensuing faceoff, and Saint Michael's never possessed in the offensive zone.
