COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College women's basketball team lost to Northeast 10 Conference foe Assumption University, 59-58, on Sunday in the Ross Sports Center. The Greyhounds are tied for the East Region lead in wins.

THE ACTION

• Talbot and senior Molly Brophy (Greenwich, N.Y./Greenwich Central School) buried three-pointers 48 seconds apart early in the opening period before Talbot's pair of free throws made it 8-0 by 7:38.
• Assumption countered with a 20-6 run, which Davis capped with a driving lay-up at 9:28 of the second stanza.
• Sophomore Margaret Montplaisir (Portsmouth, N.H./Portsmouth) buried a three 16 seconds later, and neither team led by more than five points again until the late stages. Franchi's lay-up with six seconds left in the half gave Saint Michael's a 31-30 edge by the middle intermission.
• The lead was exchanged five times in the third period alone before the hosts slowly built their lead to 57-50 on Furch's steal and fast-break hoop with 2:39 left in regulation.
• Collins put home consecutive baskets before Davis' jumper at 48 seconds drew Assumption within a single point.
• Furch split a pair of free throws 20 seconds later, but Curran followed suit at 24 ticks, and the Purple Knights went to the line at 20 seconds with a chance to make it a three-point game.
• After the hosts missed both free throws, Curran made a pair of free throws at 9.0 seconds to give her team a one-point lead. The hosts were unable to fire a final shot before the buzzer.
