GAME FACTS
  • The Purple Knights saw their five-game winning streak end while losing to Salve Regina for the first time in five-all-time meetings. The teams met for the first time since Dec. 30, 2011.
THE ACTION
  • Calder put the Seahawks ahead 11:14 into the first period. After Brunton's initial shot was saved, Calder had a shot from the slot blocked by sophomore Roman Winicki (Setauket, N.Y./Philadelphia Hockey Club), but Calder got his own rebound and beat Manahan to his blocker.
  • In a frenzied second period that saw five goals, McCarthy netted a tying tally on a power play at 4:30, digging the puck out of the corner and going high on Egbali from in tight. Junior Ben Baxter (Hyannis, Mass./Seahawks Hockey Club) and sophomore Jack Tuite (Shrub Oak, N.Y./Springfield Jr. Pics) assisted. Exactly three minutes later, Last tipped in sophomore Ian Wolanin's (Pomfret, Conn./HC Rhode Island) shot from the left point just seconds after being stoned out front by the goalie. First-year Colin Walsh (East Greenwich, R.I./Saint George's School) added a helper.
  • Salve Regina scored three times in a matter of 4:34 in the late stages to pull in front. Calder put home a rebound at 14:55 for the tying strike, junior Karsten Kruska tallied from the right circle at 18:22, and Plaza chipped a shot just out of Manahan's reach on an open net only 1:07 after that, suddenly making it 4-2.
  • The Seahawks extended the run to five goals in 7:20 - including the final four in 3:53 - when Plaza scored on a rebound 1:12 into the third period and first-year Brendan Abban got a step on the defense and scored from the left circle at 2:15. The visitors added two goals 59 seconds apart in the middle of the frame.
