THE ACTION
  • Underwood made 25 stops during the opening frame, keeping the Skyhawks off the board until more than 14 minutes had elapsed.
  • With 14:18 gone, Underwood denied sophomore Summer Combe's shot from the left circle, but the puck rebounded across the crease to Wise, who stuffed home a power-play marker.
  • Just 1:35 later, Mullin tipped first-year MacKenzie Sutherland's shot from the left point during another power play to make it 2-0.
  • Morrison tallied at 17:03 after a rebound made its way toward the left post, capping a three-goal stretch in a matter of 2:45.
  • First-year Spencer Vaccari potted a one-timer from the right circle at 6:10 of the second period off of junior Seina Spadone's cross-ice pass during a power play.
  • Mitsakis scored 1:50 later off of a rebound after Morrison's initial shot was blocked off the end boards, and she went five-hole 4:08 into the third period to extend the lead.
  • The Purple Knights were narrowly trimmed in shots, 14-9, during the final stanza. First-year Shayla Scinocca (Brandon, Manitoba/Okanagan Hockey Academy U18) toe dragged around a defender just inside the blue line and was turned away by Duffer's blocker save at 9:07, and the hosts sustained pressure during a power play in the latter half of the period. After Carpenter's bid from the blue line was denied at 11:49, Quinn's attempt from the left circle was stopped at 12:14, and Carpenter had another shot from the blue line saved at 12:56 before Duffer covered the loose puck under pressure in the crease.
  • Quinn one-timed a slapshot from the left circle with 17:03 gone that Duffer stopped, sandwiched between Stonehill scoring twice more in the period during the final 4:22.
