WORCESTER, Mass. - Eight Saint Michael's College men's and women's swimming & diving student-athletes qualified for evening finals races on Saturday during the third day of the four-day Northeast 10 Conference Championship at Worcester Polytechnic Institute's (WPI) Sports & Recreation Center.
 
MEN'S MEET
NOTES

• The Purple Knights stand fifth among nine schools with 242 points heading into the final day, just one point clear of the College of Staten Island

SAINT MICHAEL'S LEADERS

• Sophomore Lucas Haynes (Holliston, Mass./Holliston) placed sixth in the 200-yard freestyle (1:43.38) after entering the event seeded 12th, and following an eighth-place performance during morning trials. Senior Connor Quirbach (Lowell, Mass./Chelmsford) nabbed 14th (1:52.10) after being seeded 20th.
• The 200-yard medley relay quartet of seniors Ben Insley (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Plattsburgh) and Rafael Kowal (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Plattsburgh/Alfred State) and juniors Hunter Daily (Amherst, N.H./Souhegan) and JJ Kane (Sparta, N.J./Pope John XXIII Regional) captured seventh place (1:38.13). The Purple Knights' B relay of seniors Alex Meek (Essex Junction, Vt./Essex) and Gavin Nelson (Winona, Minn./Winona Senior) and sophomores Nate Alexander (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) and Dylan Reichl (Loudonville, N.Y./Shaker) was 15th (1:41.23).
• Daily finished 14th in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.65).
• In the 100-yard backstroke, Meek was 15th (54.75) and Nelson captured 16th (56.02) after entering as the No. 20 seed.
• In the one-meter diving, seniors Sebastian Revesz (Bedford, Mass./Bedford) and Thorlief Prior (Luxembourg, Luxembourg/International School of Luxembourg) placed ninth and 10th, respectively, during morning trials to narrowly miss qualifying for the eight-man final.

NOTES

• The Purple Knights are seventh among nine schools with 184 points, only seven shy of sixth-place Adelphi University.

SAINT MICHAEL'S LEADERS

• Junior Ayden Walsh (Tallahassee, Fla./Creekside) finished 11th in the 200 free (2:02.61) after being seeded 17th. Sophomore Sydney McSweeney (Warwick, N.Y./Warwick Valley) took 13th (2:03.22) as the No. 21 seed.
• Senior Livy Waranis (Narragansett, R.I./Narragansett) was 13th in the 400-yard individual medley (5:33.35) after entering the day seeded 21st.
• In the 100-yard butterfly, junior Hannah Steen (Portsmouth, R.I./Portsmouth) tied for 16th during morning trials at 1:02.14 before losing a swim-off for the 16th and last position at evening finals.
• Steen anchored the ninth-place 200 medley relay (1:57.36), joining junior Madeline Waldt (Abingdon, Md./The Catholic High School of Baltimore), sophomore Mary Mongelli (Rockville, Md./Academy of the Holy Cross) and first-year Olivia Larsen (Riverview, New Brunswick/Riverview). The B team of McSweeney, Walsh, senior Arianna Petta (Brookfield, Conn./Immaculate) and first-year Adriana Richardson (Ellsworth, Maine/Ellsworth) was 18th (2:00.39).
