Women's Ice Hockey Caps Home Slate with Loss to Franklin Pierce

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College women's ice hockey team capped its home slate with a 5-1 loss to Franklin Pierce University on Saturday during New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) play in Cairns Arena.

  • Lavender is now 22nd in NCAA National Collegiate (Division I/II) women's ice hockey history in career saves (3,251), passing Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's Amanda Rampado (3,213) and the University of Minnesota's Noora Räty (3,250). She trails Terri Lanteigne of Rochester Institute of Technology by only three saves for 21st place.
THE ACTION
  • After a first period in which the Ravens held a narrow 14-9 lead in shots, Andre tallied the opening goal at 1:22 of the second period, going to Lavender's glove corner from the left circle.
  • Dean pushed home a rebound with 10:39 gone before adding to the advantage at 14:07 from above the right circle. Murphy scored 53 seconds later, jamming in a shot from near the left post after a giveaway behind the net.
  • Boychuk got the Purple Knights on the board at 16:19 of the third period, after Aleong sent a stretch pass up the seam and sprung her for a breakaway on Eno.
  • Anderson tallied on an open net at 18:03.
