Men's Lacrosse Finishes Maryland Trip 2-0, Defeats Walsh, 12-8

FROSTBURG, Md. - The Saint Michael's College men's lacrosse team won for the second time on a two-game road trip by downing Walsh (Ohio) University, 12-8, on Sunday in Frostburg State University's Bobcat Stadium.

THE ACTION
  • Balfour struck for a man-up goal off of Murphy's feed at 9:22 of the opening quarter for the game's first tally, and Peraza (6:21) and Fremault (6:10) later scored 11 seconds to apart to make it 3-1.
  • Kessling scored at 4:26 before the Purple Knights pulled away with a 6-1 run during which Davis netted a hat trick. Peraza added a goal and a helper, and Saint Michael's was up 9-3 by 2:03 of the second frame.
  • Davis sent home his fourth strike at 9:16 before Wiercinski scored on a full-field shot from deep in his own end at 6:56 off of a pass from Nelson, the netminder, extending the lead to 11-4.
  • Walsh scored four of the game's final five goals, around Deutsch's ground ball on the doorstep and over-the-shoulder marker at 10:56 of the final stanza.
