Rookies Davis and Murphy Net Hat Tricks, Men's Lacrosse Improves to 3-0

COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College men's lacrosse first-years Chris Davis (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) and Braeden Murphy (Miller Place, N.Y./Miller Place) potted hat tricks in their first career games on Duffy Field in a 13-5 win over Roberts Wesleyan University on Friday afternoon. The Purple Knights were tied for fourth in this week's New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) poll.

THE ACTION
  • Braeden Murphy and Sean Murphy scored 1:24 apart to put Saint Michael's up 2-0 by 10:23 of the first quarter, as the hosts never trailed.
  • Brown netted a man-up tally with 3:23 gone for his team's lone goal until 20 seconds remained in the half. In the meantime, four different Purple Knights scored to push the lead to 6-1.
  • Duncan's strike in the closing seconds of the first half was met by a three-goal Saint Michael's surge in the third quarter that took only 3:29 to elapse, including Braeden Murphy's hat trick tally at 8:21.
  • Duncan scored again with 1:39 left to cut the deficit to 9-3 before Davis played a hand in the next four goals over a 5:18 span of the fourth quarter, potting a hat trick while assisting Wiercinski at 5:45.
