COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College men's tennis first-year
Ferm Koppelmans (Veghel, The Netherlands/Udens College) was among seven student-athletes named to the Northeast 10 Conference All-Rookie Team on Wednesday, as chosen by the league's coaches.
Â
Koppelmans finished 9-9 as a regular at No. 5 and 6 singles, going 6-4 in the five spot. He added four doubles victories. Two of his singles wins came as the final decision in 4-3 Purple Knight triumphs, versus Bentley University on March 28 and at Franklin Pierce University on April 21. Koppelmans won seven of his final 10 singles matches while siding with sophomore
Richard Lin (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Cardinal Gibbons) to form the Purple and Gold's regular No. 3 doubles tandem during the second half of the season.
Â
Saint Michael's went 11-6 overall, breaking a 45-year-old program record for wins, and 4-6 in NE10 play, tying for fourth place but losing a tiebreaker for the fourth and final NE10 Championship berth.
