Six Purple Knights Earn NE10 Academic All-Conference for Spring Seasons

COLCHESTER, Vt. - Six Saint Michael's College student-athletes were among 179 selections across 10 sports for a Northeast 10 Conference Academic All-Conference honor for the spring athletic season.

Softball May graduate Brooke Edgerly (Morley, Mich./Morley Stanwood) earned an NE10 Academic All-Conference nod for the second straight year, while classmate CJ Davidson (Canyon Lake, Calif./Vista Murrieta), baseball May graduates Keegan Burke (Amherst, N.H./Souhegan) and Jack Weber (Milford, Conn./Notre Dame) and rising senior Richard Gilboy (South Portland, Maine/South Portland), and men's lacrosse rising junior Matt O'Donnell (Marshfield, Mass./Cardinal Spellman) were all lauded for the first time.

The NE10 Academic All-Conference teams, which were previously voted upon by athletic administrators at NE10 member schools, are now composed of student-athletes who 1) earned all-conference or all-defensive honors for their playing season, 2) have spent at least two consecutive full-time semesters at their institution, and 3) hold at least a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average.

Baseball broke a 27-year-old school record for wins and more than doubled its NE10 victories mark, finishing 20-26 overall and 18-18 in league play. While nabbing a program-high No. 5 seed in the NE10 Championship, the Purple Knights earned their first postseason qualification while competing in postseason action for the second time ever. Gilboy (3.66, business administration) landed on the NE10 All-Conference second team while seeing time as a catcher and third baseman, breaking school records for RBI (46) and walks (31) while batting .296. An all-league third team pitcher, Burke (3.43, economics) finished the year with a 4-4 record across 11 starts, fanning 48 batters in 56 innings and walking only 12. He graduated third in program history in career strikeouts (159), with the most since World War II. Weber (3.38, health science) also claimed an NE10 All-Conference third team nod, at second base. He set career highs across the board while hitting .313 with 26 RBI and 25 walks.

Edgerly (3.95, secondary education and English) landed an NE10 All-Conference third team accolade while repeating as NE10 All-Defensive Team center fielder. She reached career highs in such categories as batting average (.333), runs (31), hits (52) and stolen bases (13) while walking 13 times to only 10 strikeouts out of the leadoff spot. Edgerly set a school record with 156 at bats this year while finishing three hits short of another season mark. Davidson (3.46, digital media & communications) earned NE10 All-Conference third team as the Purple Knights' starting right fielder and a regular in the pitching rotation. She reached career highs in batting average (.282), runs (23), hits (40), home runs (5) and RBI (27) while adding six wins and completing 12 of her 22 starts.

O'Donnell (3.43, business administration) helped men's lacrosse make its NCAA Championship debut while finishing 10-6 and ranked 14th in the final United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) national poll. An NE10 All-Conference third team pick as a short-stick defensive midfielder, O'Donnell keyed the transition game and faceoff unit by scooping 46 ground balls and causing 10 turnovers, adding a goal and an assist.
