No. 12 Women's Soccer Knots Roberts Wesleyan, 1-1

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The 12th-ranked Saint Michael's College women's soccer team and Roberts Wesleyan University both scored in the final six minutes during a 1-1 tie on Friday at Roberts Stadium. The Purple Knights' national ranking is according to the latest United Soccer Coaches poll, and they are first in the East Region. The Redhawks qualified for last year's NCAA Tournament and extended their unbeaten streak to 17 games.

THE ACTION
  • The teams combined to send only two first-half shots on goal, when juniors Sarah Gormley (East Moriches, N.Y./Westhampton Beach) and Josie Rayhill (Kirkland, Wash./Lake Washington) were turned away by Hoffman in the 12th and 32nd minutes, respectively.
  • Early in the 85th minute, the Purple Knights were awarded a penalty kick. Hoffman made a diving save to her left on the bid, but Brookes crashed the right post and tallied with 84:09 gone.
  • With less than two minutes to go, Cipolla chipped a shot over Laizer from the middle of the box for the first goal allowed by the Purple and Gold this season. The marker ended the Purple Knights' shutout streak at 361:49 dating back to last season. Cipolla's shot proved to be the last one for either team.
