Melanie Snell's (Fayston, Vt./Harwood Union) first college goal in the 50th minute sent the Saint Michael's College field hockey team past East Coast Conference (ECC) preseason favorite Mercy University, 3-2, on Sunday at Mercy Field.

THE ACTION
- Wallace-West put the Purple and Gold in front during the fifth minute, slipping a shot inside the left post from the middle of the circle after Harrington redirected a failed clear in her direction.
- Smith gained the circle before blasting a shot beyond Foecking's outstretched left leg in the eighth minute for the equalizer.
- During a penalty corner sequence, Harrington tallied in the 13th minute to reestablish the one-goal lead. Senior Grace Nigolian (Burlington, Vt./Rice Memorial) assisted.
- Brekfa knotted the score once again in the 24th minute, inserting during a corner set before tipping home junior Charlotte Sabert's pass to the left post.
- Snell gave Saint Michael's the final lead early in the 50th minute, tapping home sophomore Sam DeGeorge's (Saco, Maine/Cheverus) cross with only a defender on the goal line and McClure out of position.
- Mercy was awarded a corner with 14 seconds left in regulation, but Foecking stopped Sabert's shot just before the final horn to secure the victory.
