THE ACTION
- Saint Michael's erased a 4-0 deficit with the next four points and another three-point hole to level the teams at 11 in the opening set on Settles' kill. Daemen responded with six of the next seven points, never again leading by fewer than five points.
- With Daggett at the service line, the Purple Knights tied the second set, 7-7, on a bad set by the hosts, who scored the next six points to begin pulling away.
- Sophomore Lillie King's (Livermore, Calif./Carondelet) back-to-back kills sparked a mid-set 5-0 run that put the Purple and Gold up 12-6 in set No. 3, and the visitors were still ahead 22-18 late in the stanza. Kills by Johnson bookended a go-ahead 5-0 response out of a timeout, but the Purple Knights fended off match point (24-23) thanks to an error and an ensuing go-ahead ace by Gordon, themselves reaching set point. However, Gaylor found the tying kill before Craig also dropped a kill and Johnson notched the clinching ace.
