THE ACTION
- Karelus' kill capped a 3-0 start in the opening set for Roberts Wesleyan, which continued to lead through the end of the stanza. After trailing by as many as seven points, the Purple Knights rallied within 21-19 on Settles' second kill of a 6-1 run, but the hosts came out of a timeout with the final four points. Karelus provided the clinching kill.
- The teams played through 12 ties and six lead changes during the second set. Back-to-back aces from Daggett capped a tie-breaking 4-0 run that gave the hosts a 12-8 lead, and Marshall and Tower combined for a block that made it 14-9, the largest advantage by either team in the set. However, Karelus had a kill and block to account for the final two points in a 10-2 counter that provided the hosts a 19-16 lead. The visitors twice tied the score on errors (20-20, 21-21) before leading 23-22 on Settles' kill. Sophomore Rachel Dixon's kill swung the Redhawks back into the lead and gave them set point at 24-23, but Settles sandwiched a pair of kills around a Gordon dig-kill during a 3-0 capping run to help the Purple Knights tie the match.
- Saint Michael's trailed 12-10 in set No. 3 before using a 12-2 run to nab a 22-14 lead. LaFrenier had two aces and a kill in that time. Five of the next seven points went to the Redhawks before Settles dropped a clinching kill.
- The fourth set featured 11 ties, as neither team led by more than two points until the Purple and Gold utilized a 7-0 run to erase a 15-14 deficit and go up 21-15. Settles provided two kills and two blocks in the jaunt, while Mediate notched a pair of aces. The hosts trimmed the hole to a single point twice, but Tower combined with Marshall on a block before registering the clinching kill to finish a set-ending 3-1 run.
