COLCHESTER, Vt. - The No. 20 Saint Michael's College women's soccer team opened its home slate with a scoreless draw against the University of Bridgeport on Saturday at Duffy Field. The host Purple Knights' national ranking was according to this week's United Soccer Coaches poll. They are also second in the East Region poll.

• Saint Michael's held leads in shots (14-3) and corner kicks (6-2).
• The Purple and Gold ran its regular-season unbeaten streak to 10 games (9-0-1). It is now 27-0-4 in non-conference regular-season games since September 2021, now unbeaten in 23 in a row (22-0-1) - with the last 10 decided by shutouts.

THE ACTION

• Saint Michael's had a trio of good looks early, but Griva made diving saves of juniors Elisa Damori (Lake Oswego, Ore./Lakeridge) and Jules Peterson (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) in the ninth and 12th minutes, respectively, before classmate Lola Follansbee (Grafton, Mass./Grafton) chipped a shot over the charging keeper in the 14th minute but narrowly missed the right side of the vacated net.
• In the 19th minute, Follansbee blocked junior Manuela Macedo's bid on an empty left side of the cage after Laizer had leaped to bat down a corner kick service.
• Junior Delaney Kleinman (Center Moriches, N.Y./Center Moriches) rung the crossbar from 25 yards out in the 50th minute as the first of three quick Saint Michael's shots that did not reach the net.
• Laizer dove to her left to turn aside Macedo's left-footed drive in the 66th minute.
• Junior Sarah Gormley (East Moriches, N.Y./Westhampton Beach) had the final good look for either team, one-touching Follansbee's pass on Griva early in the 89th minute.
