SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College women's ice hockey team (4-18-2, 3-12-2 ECAC East) fell victim to six Manhattanville goals in the third period as the Valiants handed the hosts a 9-1 loss at Cairns Arena on Friday. Manhattanville sophomore Mary Rose Morrison (Ridgefield, Conn./Connecticut Stars) had a dominant four-goal performance, all in the second period and three in a row at one point, to lead the Valiants to victory.

Junior Madelena Santore (Millington, N.J./New Jersey Rockets/Rutgers Univ.) scored the lone goal for the Purple Knights on a steal at the red line that she finished with a crafty breakaway move. Santore's team-leading 19th goal was assisted by junior Kiera Nelligan (Melrose, Mass./Arlington Catholic), who leads the squad with 11 helpers.

Senior Shannon Coffey (Malden, Mass./North American Hockey Academy), and sophomores Lauren Nutkevitch (Montreal, Quebec/Dawson College), Lynsey Schill (Waterloo, Ontario/Kitchener Rangers) and Katie Little (Victoria, Britich Columbia/Team British Columbia) had multiple-point nights for Manhattanville. Coffey matched Morrison's four points with a goal and three assists, while Little had a goal and two assist. Nutkevitch recorded a goal and a helper, and Schill had two assits.

Sophomore Erin Stevens (Watertown, Conn./Connecticut Polar Bears) made 20 saves before being relieved by senior Alysia Goldman (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) late in the second period. Goldman stopped 19 shots, including 15 in the third peroid. For the Valiants, freshman goalie Mary Evans (Detroit, Mich./Honeybaked) stopped 15-of-16 shots in her seventh win of the season.

Saint Michael's closes the regular season tomorrow against Nichols at 1 p.m.
