WALTHAM, Mass. - The Saint Michael's College men's tennis team completed the fall leg of its 2013-14 slate with a 9-0 loss to regionally-ranked Bentley University on Sunday at the Bentley Tennis Courts. The Purple Knights slipped to 0-4 overall and 0-4 in the Northeast-10 Conference, while the Falcons are now 4-0 and 4-0, and are among three teams tied for first in the league. Bentley is eighth in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Region poll.
Seniors Chris Allen (Springfield, Mass./Cathedral) and Tom Brahm (Marlborough, Conn./Xavier) turned in the closest decision during doubles, coming up on the losing end of an 8-4 contest at No. 2. In singles action, sophomore Charlie Merry (Kennebunkport, Maine/Kennebunk) suffered a narrow opening-set loss during a 6-4, 6-2 setback at No. 4, and senior Nick Bosco (Glastonbury, Conn./East Catholic) won five total points in a 6-2, 6-3 loss in the top spot.
Saint Michael's is back in action on Feb. 22 when it visits Saint Lawrence University at 4 p.m.
