COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College men's tennis rising senior
Julius van den Broek (Bergschenhoek, The Netherland/Wolfert Lyceum) was recognized with a College Sports Communicators (CSC) NCAA Division II Academic All-District honor this week. He was among seven Northeast-10 Conference student-athletes honored.
Â
Van den Broek, who holds a 3.55 cumulative grade-point average as a business administration major and finance, economics and accounting triple minor, posted a 9-4 singles mark during the 2024-25 school year, nearly matching his career win total entering the season, including 6-1 as the Purple Knights' regular in the No. 3 spot. The second-year captain also went 2-2 at No. 2 and added a pair of doubles victories. Van den Broek is a four-time NE10 Academic Honor Roll qualifier and landed a Division 2 Athletics Directors Association (D2 ADA) Academic Achievement Award for the 2023-24 school year.
Â
College Sports Communicators recognizes major contributors toting at least a 3.50 GPA by their sophomore seasons. Each school was able to put a maximum number of student-athletes forward for an award that previously necessitated voting. Instead, All-District honorees can now advance directly to the Academic All-America ballot, which still incorporates national membership voting. Through the Academic All-America program, CSC names Academic All-District and Academic All-America teams at each the NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III levels, while the College Division team combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.
