HANOVER, N.H. - Seven members of the Saint Michael's College men's tennis team played a role in at least one victory during a 6-3 win against Colby-Sawyer College in a non-conference match on Thursday at Dartmouth College's Boss Tennis Center. The Purple Knights improve to 2-3 after the win, while the Chargers drop to 2-4.
Senior Eric Parziale (Pinehurst, N.C./Pinecrest) and first-year Steve Thomson (Westport, Conn./Staples) captured an 8-3 victory at the top doubles position, while senior Chris Moskal (Springfield, Mass./Cathedral) and junior Nick Bosco (Glastonbury, Conn./East Catholic) won an 8-1 decision from the No. 2 slot. The tandem of senior Kenny Vassallo (Wilmington, Mass./Wilmington) and first-year Sam Laves (Bedford, N.H./Bishop Brady) grabbed an 8-5 win at the third spot to help Saint Michael's sweep doubles action.
Bosco picked up a 6-4, 6-3 win from the No. 2 singles position, Thomson won, 6-4, 2-6, 6-2, at No. 3 and senior Lyle Nichols (Washington, Conn./Shepaug Valley) notched his first career victory, claiming a 6-2, 6-2 win at the sixth singles spot. Parziale fell in a 6-4, 6-4 decision at the top singles position, and Moskal slipped to a 6-4, 7-5 defeat at No. 5.
The Purple Knights are back in action on Saturday when they play their first NE-10 match of the spring at Adelphi University at 12 p.m.
