KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The Saint Michael's College men's tennis team lost to Hope (Mich.) College, 9-0, on Tuesday at Star Island Resort and Club during its Spring Break trip. The Purple Knights are now 0-9, while the Flying Dutchmen improved to 1-5.
Saint Michael's played through a pair of close doubles decisions, including sophomore Sam Laves (Bedford, N.H./Bishop Brady) and first-year Ben Lambert (Milford, N.H./Milford) falling by an 8-6 final at No. 3. In the second position, senior Chris Allen (Springfield, Mass./Cathedral) and first-year Hayden Steward (Hamilton, Mass./Pingree School) dropped an 8-5 match.
During singles action, senior captain Nick Bosco (Glastonbury, Conn./East Catholic) rallied to take his opponent to three sets at No. 1 but fell shy 6-2, 3-6, 6-0. Classmate Tom Brahm (Marlborough, Conn./Xavier) nearly forced a third set during a 6-3, 7-5 loss at No. 3.
The Purple Knights take on Hobart (N.Y.) College tomorrow at 12 p.m. in Orlando, Fla.
