COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College men's tennis team concluded a challenging four-match run with a 9-0 loss to regionally-ranked Adelphi University on Saturday in the Tarrant Recreation Center. The Purple Knights, who played their third regionally-ranked foe during the stretch, are now 0-7 overall and 0-6 in the Northeast-10 Conference. The Panthers, who are 10th in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Region poll, improved to 2-4 and 1-0.
Adelphi yielded only four total points in grabbing the three doubles matches, with sophomore Sam Laves (Bedford, N.H./Bishop Brady) and first-year Ben Lambert (Milford, N.H./Milford) combining to notch two of those points at No. 3. In singles, senior captain Nick Bosco (Glastonbury, Conn./East Catholic) narrowly lost his second set during a 6-1, 7-5 defeat in the No. 1 position. Junior Billy Wood (Wayne, Pa./Home Schooled) and senior Tom Brahm (Marlborough, Conn./Xavier) each won four points at No. 2 and 3, respectively.
Saint Michael's begins a four-match Spring Break trip in Orlando, Fla., by taking on Colorado College next Sunday at 8 a.m.
