Men's tennis concludes Spring Break trip with loss against regionally-ranked Post

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Saint Michael's College men's tennis team capped a six-match Spring Break trip to Florida with a 9-0 loss against regionally-ranked Post University on Friday at the United States Tennis Association (USTA) National Campus. The Purple Knights head north with a 1-6 mark, while the Eagles, who are ninth in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Region poll, improved to 5-4.

In doubles play, senior Hayden Steward (Hamilton, Mass./Pingree School) and sophomore Dan Foley (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley) came closest to taking a point, falling 8-4 in the top spot. Seniors Patrick Dietz (Prospect, Conn./Woodland Regional) and Ben Lambert (Milford, N.H./Milford) lost an 8-3 decision at No. 2.

First-year Matt Mosher (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Warde) stuck with his foe at fifth singles before coming up short by a 6-4, 6-2 count to an opponent that picked up his team-leading sixth victory. Steward lost 6-3, 6-0 in the third spot, while Lambert also won three games at No. 1 against the region's ninth-ranked singles player.

The Purple Knights are home for their next three matches, first taking on Saint Anselm College on Tuesday at 3 p.m. in a return to Northeast-10 Conference play.
