Men's Tennis Opens Home Schedule with Loss to Regionally-Ranked Bentley

COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College men's tennis team opened its home schedule against regionally-ranked Bentley University on Saturday, losing a 9-0 decision in the Tarrant Recreation Center. The Purple Knights are 0-3 overall and 0-2 in the Northeast-10 Conference, having played regionally-ranked squads in both league contests this season. The Falcons, who stand seventh in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Region poll, are 4-3 and 1-0.

First-years Colby Antonacci (Bolton Valley, Vt./Mount Mansfield Union/Saint Anselm) and Cam Maher (Exeter, N.H./Exeter) had the closest doubles showing, trailing by only one game late in the contest before losing an 8-5 decision in the second spot. Junior Dan Foley (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley) and sophomore Matt Mosher (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Warde) took three games at No. 1 from the sixth-ranked doubles tandem in the region, the second-most games yielded by that duo against a Division II foe this year.

Foley claimed three games during a straight-set loss at No. 2 singles, while Maher won two games in the third spot. Mosher, junior Jake Remillard (Saint Albans, Vt./BFA-Saint Albans) and Antonacci earned game victories in the No. 1, 4 and 5 positions, respectively.

The Purple Knights visit Franklin Pierce University next Saturday at 1 p.m., kicking off a run of three matches in four days.
