Men's Tennis Loses to Regional Power Merrimack

COLCHESTER, Vt. - While playing the second of three matches in four days, the Saint Michael's College men's tennis team lost to regional power Merrimack College, 9-0, on Sunday in the Tarrant Recreation Center. The Purple Knights are 0-5 overall and 0-4 in the Northeast-10 Conference, while the Warriors, who qualified for the past 10 NCAA Tournaments, are 5-3 and 2-0.

Junior Jake Remillard (Saint Albans, Vt./BFA-Saint Albans) and first-year Colby Antonacci (Bolton Valley, Vt./Mount Mansfield Union/Saint Anselm) were among two new doubles tandems for the hosts and had the greatest success in the discipline among Purple Knights, losing an 8-3 decision at No. 3. Junior Max Allen (Dennis, Mass./Dennis-Yarmouth Regional) and sophomore Matt Mosher (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Warde) sided for the first time this school year en route to suffering an 8-2 setback in the second spot.

Antonacci fell by an 8-3 count at No. 5 singles during a pro-set, while Mosher also won three games in a 6-2, 6-1 loss in the top spot. First-year Cam Maher (Exeter, N.H./Exeter) lost 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3, and Remillard took a 6-1, 6-1 defeat from the fourth position.

The Purple Knights visit Adelphi University on Tuesday for a 12:30 p.m. match. The Panthers qualified for three of the past four NCAA Tournaments.
