Men's Tennis Completes Three-Match, Four-Day Stretch at Regional Power Adelphi

OCEANSIDE, N.Y. - The Saint Michael's College men's tennis team completed a run of three matches in four days on Tuesday with a matinee setback to regional power Adelphi University, 9-0, during Northeast-10 Conference play at Point Set Indoor Racquet Club. The Purple Knights are 0-6 overall and 0-5 in the league, while the Panthers, who qualified for three of the past four NCAA Tournaments, improved to 1-3 in their NE10 opener.

The Purple Knights had a pair of near misses during doubles action, including as junior Dan Foley (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley) and sophomore Matt Mosher (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Warde) lost at No. 1 by an 8-6 final, the same score Adelphi's top tandem posted to down its foe from New York Institute of Technology - the third-ranked squad in the region - on Feb. 23. First-years Colby Antonacci (Bolton Valley, Vt./Mount Mansfield Union/Saint Anselm) and Cam Maher (Exeter, N.H./Exeter) suffered an 8-5 setback in the second spot.

Foley won four games while losing a 6-1, 6-3 decision at No. 2 singles, and Antonacci posted the same second set score in a 6-0, 6-3 setback in the fifth spot. First-year Trevor Work (Dennis, Mass./Dennis-Yarmouth Regional) claimed two games in a straight-set loss at No. 6.

Saint Michael's returns to action at Assumption College on March 17 at 11 a.m.
