Men's Tennis Loses 6-3 Decision at NE10 Foe Saint Anselm

MANCHESTER, N.H. - The Saint Michael's College men's tennis team lost a 6-3 decision to Saint Anselm College in the Carr Center on Tuesday during Northeast-10 Conference play. The Purple Knights, who kicked off a regular-season-ending run of four matches in six days, are winless through eight outings, including seven in league competition. The Hawks improved to 2-13 and 1-7.

Saint Michael's took an early lead when first-years Colby Antonacci (Bolton Valley, Vt./Mount Mansfield Union/Saint Anselm) and Cam Maher (Exeter, N.H./Exeter) combined for an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles, marking the first victory of Maher's career and Antonacci's initial win since transferring in from Saint Anselm following the first semester. The Hawks rallied to claim a 4-1 lead thanks to yielding only five games between No. 1 and 2 doubles before notching straight-set wins in the second and fourth singles slots. In his first action in a month, junior Max Allen (Dennis, Mass./Dennis-Yarmouth Regional) lost his second set just 6-3 at No. 4.

Sophomore Matt Mosher (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Warde) rallied for a 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 triumph at No. 1, the highest win of his career, to bring the visitors within 4-2, but Saint Anselm clinched the team win when Maher lost a lengthy 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) decision at No. 5. Junior Dan Foley (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley) followed with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 comeback win in the third spot, his first career victory higher than No. 5, before Antonacci lost a 6-3, 7-5 contest in the sixth position to conclude the match.

The Purple Knights visit Assumption College on Friday at 2:30 p.m.
