DANVERS, Mass. - Behind three multi-decision winners, the Saint Michael's College men's tennis team downed Emerson College, 7-2, on Sunday at Saint John's Prep. The victory, which was the first of head coach Jason Hammel's career, moved the Purple Knights to 1-10 in their season finale. The Lions are 1-9.

The Purple and Gold, which was playing its third match in as many days, nearly swept doubles, and still held a 2-1 edge heading into singles. First-years Colby Antonacci (Bolton Valley, Vt./Mount Mansfield Union/Saint Anselm) and Cam Maher (Exeter, N.H./Exeter) opened the match with an 8-2 victory at No. 3 doubles, and junior Dan Foley (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley) and sophomore Matt Mosher (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Warde) followed suit in the top position.

With the visitors staked to a 2-0 lead, senior Alex Mohbat (Beirut, Lebanon/Sagesse) and junior Jake Remillard (Saint Albans, Vt./BFA-Saint Albans) narrowly lost an 8-6 decision at No. 2.

Maher won a 6-2, 6-0 contest in the sixth singles spot before Mosher lost at No. 1, bringing Emerson within 3-2, but each of the Purple Knights' final singles matches ended in victory. Remillard captured a 6-1, 6-2 triumph in the fourth spot, Foley clinched his team's victory thanks to a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 2, Mohbat took a 6-4, 6-1 result in the fifth slot, and Antonacci rallied for a 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 3. Mohbat and Remillard nabbed their first career singles wins in the process.
